RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
At Fibbersley Park Academy we aim to deliver a high-quality Religious Education to enable children to gain a sound knowledge and understanding of different faiths, to develop moral and spiritual values, and to give children an awareness of themselves within a wider framework.
Our vision for Religious Education is for all children and staff to have a deep understanding and respect of religious and non-religious beliefs represented within the school, local community and the world.
Our assemblies and RE lessons include stories and festivals from other faiths and reflect our multicultural society. Children will learn about, and from, the main world religions. They will understand and appreciate that everyone is unique and should be respected equally.
We follow the Sandwell Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education to ensure a good progression of knowledge and skills.
Fibbersley Park has no affiliation to any religious body or organisation. All children have Religious Education lessons and participate in some form of daily collective worship, which is predominantly Christian.
In accordance with the Education Act 1944, Religious Education is a compulsory subject. Any parent has the right to ask for his/her child to be excused from RE or worship, but we would ask the parent to examine the curriculum and discuss the full implications of withdrawal.
