COMPUTING

At Fibbersley Park Academy we are determined to enable children to use digital technology and computing as a strategy to communicate, collaborate and to think critically and creatively.

Our Computing curriculum is integrated within the termly NICER challenge packs and focusses around the three main strands of computing: Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy. Computer Science introduces children to understanding how computers and networks work. It also gives all children the opportunity to learn computer programming, from simple programmable toys in EYFS to programming and decoding complex codes in Year 6. Information Technology focuses on the use of computers for collecting and presenting information in a range of ways. Digital Literacy is about the safe and responsible use of technology, including recognising its advantages for collaboration or communication. The use of technology is used to enhance learning across the whole curriculum, including core and foundation subjects. The children have access to a range of resources to support the Computing curriculum such as; laptops, iPads and programmable toys.

E-Safety

At Fibbersley Park Academy we aim to ensure that pupils become digitally literate so that they can use technology safely and respectfully. This includes keeping personal information private and knowing where to go for help and support when they have concerns about inappropriate content or contact through the internet.
